    Good vid and good knot, I tried it and like it. There’s even commercial guys who use bowlines though. Idk maybe I’m not good with knots it’s too hard to remember. Out on a boat I’m all about a bowline. If I’m at home and comfy I may use this knot. Either way it’s a good choice.

    @chris please help. Would you rather have a 1100 or 1200 with your recommended set ups for each in Hawaii? Shooting mostly reef fish under 5kg? But see the occasional 10kg+ (uku) jobfish and Ulua (giant trevally).Very clear water 90m viz. I use a conventional 120 double band. Would you say 1100 roller is equivalent in power and range with 7mm and 14mm bands? I value speed of Loading and minimal gear.

    Coats would you consider doing it on ermes double roller head or Rob Allen notched drop barb? My ermes front rubber wishbone tends to fly forward ahead of top bracket but I guess I can try to shorten it even more...I though about doing a double front rubber wishbone but I'm a bit worried it might interfere with notch on the back... I though of polishing the top of the notches on my RA drop barb a bit so it has less surface area to hold the wishbone too as they have quite aggressive overhang If the rubbers for some reason are missloaded on improper notches the effect of shaft being whipped up the muzzle increase 10 folds xD I had a client that would load them other way around couse it was too inconvienent. 😂

    • @CoatesmansSpearfishing
      @CoatesmansSpearfishing 14 днів тому

      With the angle of the Ermes roller muzzles rails and the std RA notch it is best to load on an uneven wishbone to reduce the shaft lifting at the muzzle. This should also negate the need to modify the notches.

    Hey Chris, can you swap out a 16mm bands and a 7.5 mm shaft with this ultra light muzzle? Or if I wanted to switch out between the two would you recommend the CSR Max for the traditional muzzle?

    Is the diagonal line on the diagram alwas straight or could it vary if u test diferent losing distances on the same setup? Would u alwas land on the line or could it have a sleight convex or concave shape in realive ?

    • @CoatesmansSpearfishing
      @CoatesmansSpearfishing 2 місяці тому

      Hey Patrick, You right the line will not be exactly straight as the load will vary as you take the shot. But more importantly which is not shown here is the snap back velocity of the rubber. This is something I will have to explain in another video.

    • @CoatesmansSpearfishing
      @CoatesmansSpearfishing 2 місяці тому

      Its just the weight of the gun. The 7mm is lighter so the whole gun will feel / handle better in the water. But I like using 7.5mm shafts on 120s & 130s

      @matteobingin 2 місяці тому

      @@fishhunter348 yeah the sashimi is gonna taste exactly the same as if shot at 35 meters, but as I said already: no glory on shooting from the surface, I'd be ashamed to post this video

    • @CoatesmansSpearfishing
      @CoatesmansSpearfishing 2 місяці тому

      Hey Matteo, Thank you for sharing your perspective. However, I respectfully disagree and want to express that I am not only unashamed but proud to share this post. It represents over a decade of experimentation and experience aimed at making the hunting of dogtooth tuna more effective and ethical. You seem to suggest that this approach is somehow negative. However, in my experience, it serves as a counterbalance to the unfortunate reality of many spearfishermen diving beyond their abilities and taking poorly placed shots out of desperation. This only highlights the ethical dilemma posed by the low land ratio of dogtooth tuna shot in this way. And that's not even considering the number of guys I've seen risking their lives just to land a fish. There's no clear-cut answer to what constitutes a greater achievement. It's more about personal judgment, as there's no definitive right or wrong. Is it unethical to use flashers and burley? Is investing in expensive equipment an unfair advantage over those with conventional gear? And is repeatedly hunting remote areas because you have the means until success achieved commendable or not? But one thing remains true: regardless of the method, targeting dogtooth tuna remains an incredible challenge. Achieving a perfect shot on these large fish is essential, whether you're diving at 5m or 50m, using a 10mm shaft or 7.5mm. Ultimately, effective spearfishing is determined by skill and technique, not just by the tools used or 'unfair' opportunities. If adhering to a purist approach brings you peace of mind, then by all means, continue to do so. I hope you land the fish of your dreams, and I will celebrate with you on your achievement. Chris
